BULGARIAN AND MACEDONIAN ARCHAEOLOGISTS ARE CLOSE TO SIGNING ON A SECOND AGREEMENT

The cooperation of Bulgarian and Macedonian archaeologists will not be limited to the three-year agreement between two of the leading institutions in Sofia and Skopje. A few days ago the director of NAIM, Assoc. Prof. Lyudmil Vagalinski, and the director of the National Archaeological Museum of Macedonia Goran Sanev met in Petrich and put their signatures under a document, which provides joint exhibitions – including traveling exposition with the most valuable artifacts from the necropolis at the village of Trebenishte which reported first Archaeologia Bulgarica.

On July 4, the director of NAIM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lyudmil Vagalinski, confirmed, that the negotiations with the other Macedonian partner – Prof. Dr. Ratko Duev, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University “St. Cyril and Methodius “in Skopje / UCIM /, are close to a successful finish. Both sides have approved the text of the Framework Cooperation Agreement, which will be signed as soon as possible.

This rapid activation of the relations between Bulgarian and Macedonian archaeologist is happening exactly 100 years after the discovering of the necropolis in Trebenishte during the First World War; it will certainly be beneficial for the science as well the promotion of the cultural and historical heritage in the Balkans.
